Ahh Sunbathing.....Mom!!

Pepper learned the hard way not to
sunbathe behind Lavender,
especially when Lavender is digging in the bedding!
"Ahh, this is the life. You have to try this, Ginger. It's great!"
"Pepper? I think you better move, Mom's coming...."
"You're right. I'll move over here, the sun is much better here anyway. Ahhh....."

Poof!
"Argh! Mom! Not again!"

"*sigh* I'll never get these shavings out of my fuzz."

Flappy

I finally caught, on film, the chicks trying out their wings. They can't just walk anymore, they always have to "fly".

Introducing

Introducing:
Pixie, Ginger, Pepper and Dixie

Thanks, everyone, for the great name ideas!

Pepper, Ginger, Dixie and Pixie

Pepper, Ginger, Dixie and Pixie

These pics were taken March 31st and I can already see how much they have changed in the last few days.
Today I noticed they were taller or their legs looked longer.
They look more like Silkie chickens and less like baby chicks.
They are 2 weeks old today.
There's a Silkie gender guessing game for my babies on BYC - check it out here and cast your vote!
Thanks for all the great comments!

Raisin Chasin'

Sorry for my poor video skills!
About 20 seconds into the video I give them a raisin.

Peekaboo

The chicks are so cute when they hide underneath Lavender and peek out.

Sadly, they grow up so fast. These pics were taken on March 31st. Today I noticed Pepper has started napping on her own. Before, they would follow Lavender around and peep at her until she would let them cuddle underneath her for a nap.

Pixie (the baby) still asks Lavender for a cuddle.

Nap Time

I think this pic is sooooo cute! The expression on the little white one's face - "Ugg! More pictures? Some of us are trying to sleep."

I'm thinking about naming the little white one Pixie. The black one Pepper. And the lighter brown one Ginger. Still need a name for the darker brown one.......

Raisin Race

I gave Lavender a raisin today, thinking she would gobble it down like she always does, but like a good mother she shared it with her chicks.
Unfortunately, they haven't learned about sharing yet. They chased each other around for about 20 mins. until one of the buff colored chicks ate the raisin.
It was hilarious! Like chick football.

They were tired after all that running around.

I'm thinking of naming the tiny yellow chick - Pixie.

Back To You

Most chick pics turn out this way -

Am I that scary? Boo hoo. :(

One Week Pics

I didn't have enough light, so I took the chicks (one at a time) into another room, Lavender jumped out of the brooder and chased me!
Catty (the cat) got in the way and Lavender chased her down the hallway and into the bedroom!
She didn't try to hurt me, even though I was holding her chick. :)

If you have any chick name suggestions - post them please! I need some help.

Look at the camera! - No! You can't make me!

Can't catch me! I'm the fastest chick in the world!

What's up? And who are you?

Hide!

Can you see the two cute chicks?
A black one and a white one?

Now you see it.....

Zip! Now you don't!

Hello! What'cha look'in at?

Mommy! Mommy! Look at me!

Green Plate Special

I took some more pics of the chickies........

The little white one is about half the size of the others. Tiny little sweetie!
